The following rules will apply when France ETIAS is implemented, starting in 2025:
Any residents of the United States planning to travel to the EU will need ETIAS France to do so. Anyone living in a state outside of the EU that has ratified the Visa-Free Travel Treaty will need to complete an ETIAS registration form to visit Schengen countries.
ETIAS will be required for residents of any nation that is not a member of the European Union. This includes U.S. citizens. France ETIAS will be necessary for entry into any country that is part of the Schengen Area, including Italy. The Visa Waiver program will be closely monitored. Before boarding international transportation, all airlines, ferries, bus operators, and transportation companies will check that passengers have received ETIAS France Application approval. Operators will require all visitors to provide proof of valid travel authorization.a
According to the most recent updates, France ETIAS will become available to 60 non-EU countries, including the United States, starting in 2025. There will be a transition period lasting up to 6 months before the system fully goes into effect.
